Oregon No. 2 in U.S. for share of new EVs sold in 2022

Oregon’s electric vehicle sales ended strong in 2022 — coming in second in the nation for share of new EVs sold. With an average of 1000 EV sales per month in 2022, Oregon is poised for continued growth in 2023.

Oregon met several milestones in May of 2022 when total registered EVs passed 50,000 and contractors completed the first phase of ODOT-funded upgrades to Oregon’s share of the West Coast Electric Highway. The station upgrades will bring Oregon’s public DC fast charger count to nearly 480, according to the latest data from the U.S. Department of Energy.

The growth trend will continue in 2023 as the state ramps up to meet new regulations that require all new cars, trucks, and SUVs sold in Oregon to be zero emission by 2035.
