Transportation Electrification Project Funding Available Through Two Oregon Utilities

Oregon’s two largest electric utility providers, Portland General Electric and Pacific Power, are now accepting applications for their transportation electrification project funding programs. Both programs are funded through the Oregon Department of Environmental Quality’s Clean Fuels Program.

Portland General Electric’s 2022 Drive Change Fund will award a total of $2.25 million for projects that help electrify Oregon’s transportation sector, from purchasing electric vehicles, including e-bikes, light, medium, and heavy duty vehicles to installing charging infrastructure and promoting educational campaigns. The application process is open from May 2 through July 1, 2022. Preference will be given to projects hosted by public or non-profit organizations that utilize full battery electric vehicles, engage directly with environmental justice communities, and provide substantial education, environmental, and economic benefits to the community.

Pacific Power’s Electric Mobility Grant has more than $1.3 million available to nonprofits, local governments, and other non-residential Pacific Power customers for electric mobility projects in Oregon. Funding awards will cover up to 100 percent of the project cost. Preference will be given to community-focused organizations, such as school and transit districts, non-profit organizations and city, county, and regional governments. The application deadline is August 31, 2022 and recipients will be announced in November.
