Oregon to Receive $10 million for Public EV Charger Repairs and Upgrades
Oregonians can anticipate a more reliable public electric vehicle charging experience over the next few years thanks to a $10 million federal grant for public EV charger repairs, station upgrades, and additional Level 2 or DC fast charging ports at project sites.
The Oregon Department of Transportation’s Climate Office will oversee funding distribution in Oregon and is working hard to develop the most efficient way to work with owners of ports and stations across the state to repair broken charging ports and upgrade stations. Federal rules require private companies to contribute 20 percent in order to receive grant funding.
The grant comes from the federal Electric Vehicle Charger Reliability and Accessibility Accelerator program, which is part of the $5 billion investment in public EV charging nationwide from the 2021 Bipartisan Infrastructure Law overseen by the Federal Highway Administration.
