Schools to receive $1 Billion for Electric and Alternative Fuel Buses
This year, $1 billion ($500 million toward electric buses and $500 million toward clean buses) is available through the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency for rebates that can be applied to bus and fueling infrastructure costs. The Oregon Department of Energy is coordinating with the Department of Environmental Quality, Department of Education, and Department of Transportation on how to maximize outreach to Oregon’s school districts and leverage this funding opportunity. In addition, ODOT’s Climate Office is planning to support the National EV Infrastructure Formula Program to further incentivize charger installations in Oregon. The NEVI Formula Program was established to deploy an interconnected electric vehicle charging infrastructure along approved alternative fuel corridors.
Clean school buses bring many benefits to Oregonians, including cleaner air, reduced greenhouse gas emissions, grid resilience, and more. Below is a collection of information and resources for schools and partners to get started on these funding opportunities!
